We've reached the autumn season, when the temptation to curl up with a good book in front of the fire is at it's highest. What's more, this unexpected year yields a bounty of new and forthcoming releases. Last week, we had "Super Thursday" when almost 600 new books entered the UK market. In a few weeks more, around 800 new titles will be released in time for the Christmas sales.
In this post, I want to share the books I anticipate the most. While they may not be to everyone's tastes, those who read my blog with regularity will recognise the genre and style of the books I favour most. Where possible, I've tried to include short videos and photographs (particularly those books most beautiful) to explain in visual form the reasons for my literary covets.
Here are my most anticipated books for the coming months:
Orfeia by Joanne Harris

This beautiful new book by Joanne Harris (author of Chocolat and the Loki series) is beautifully illustrated by Bonnie Helen Hawkins. Luckily I was able to collect soon after release day, though have not yet had the opportunity to read and review this gorgeous title.
Orfeia is available now from all good booksellers.
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
We are thrilled to reveal the cover for Piranesi, the new novel from Susanna Clarke, set to be one of the literary treats of 2020. Since I first learned that the author of the amazing Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell had penned a new title, I have yearned to read it! The video above pretty much sums up what we know of the plot so far. It's not set in the world of Strange and Norrell, though early reviews suggest it is a magnificent read!
Piranesi will be released on 15th September 2020.
The Betrayals by Bridget Collins
Collin's debut, The Binding was a standout book for me last year. Her newest novel, The Betrayals is set in a different "alternate history" (see my review here). I was very fortunate to receive an eARC, but am still very much looking forward to receiving my signed, special edition from Waterstones.
The Betrayals by Bridget Collins will be released on November 12th, 2020.
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab
— Victoria/V.E. Schwab (@veschwab)July 21, 2020
I've been looking forward to this for so long! Schwab's writing is superb, particularly the Shades of Magic trilogy. Knowing how excited she is for the release of her novel makes me even more excited to read it.
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue will be released on October 6th, 2020.
Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline
Are you ready for round two?
It's the news all fans of Ernest Cline's sci-fi classic #ReadyPlayerOne have been dreaming of. The electrifying #ReadyPlayerTwo really is on its way.

Ready Player One was a game-changing book. I had the pleasure of reading it long before we even knew it would become a film; lost myself in the footnotes and pop-culture references of my youth and raved about it to anyone who would listen.
So of course I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. Even though it didn't need one...
Ready Player Two will be released on November 24th
The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward
You think you've read this story before.
That's where you're wrong...#TheLastHouseonNeedlessStreet by @Catrionaward will leave you speechless. Coming March 2021.

I'm so excited for the release of Catriona Ward's third novel! Billed as a haunted house story with many twists, with rave reviews from all who've been granted the privilege of an early read, from the great Stephen King through to Joanne Harris.
Sadly I'm in for a long, long wait as it won't be released until March next year. But if anyone has the ear of the publishers, please pass on that I'd gladly sell my soul for an ARC...
The Last House on Needless Street will be published in March, 2021.
