MinaLima, the amazingly talented design team behind the props and paraphernalia of the Harry Potter franchise, have published a series of beautiful interactive fairytale books.
I first discovered this series while looking for a gift edition of Beauty and the Beast (pictured above) which is truly one of the most beautiful books I own. Unlike most children's fairytale books, MinaLima editions feature interactive elements, such as pull-out maps, dials to change scenery, pop-ups, hidden treasures and more. These hardcover titles feature foiled covers and gorgeous illustrations throughout.
This week marks the book birthday of the fourth book in the series, The Little Mermaid and Other Tales:
I can't wait to purchase my own copy of The Little Mermaid, it looks to be the best in the series so far!
A further title is planned for publication in September: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson-Burnett. I can't begin to explain how happy this news makes me, particularly as the timing means I may be treated to a copy for my birthday present! There is so much scope for imagination in the interactive elements. As yet, I've not found any previews of the interactive elements of this title, though the cover has been revealed on the MinaLima website:
The MinaLima fairytale books are available to buy from all major literary retailers, though I highly recommend purchasing directly from the design duo's website where you can find exclusive signed copies (and, of course, browse the amazing catalogue of literary and printed designs).
